<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I don't make or keep resolutions so, there's nothing like that to post about. My first winter here in Alaska has been keeping me busy...more or less. I've learned that yeah, I really do like snow, just like I've kinda always thought. Growing up in California we would have to drive about 3 hours during the winter to play in the snow. Where I kive today, I've had a constant supply of snow right out my front door since before Halloween. Yeah it's cold - but that's what layering clothing is for. Also, I like being bundled up and being able to wear boots without my feet sweating.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">One major change I did make - and it happened to be on New Years day but, pretty much just how it worked out. I cut my dreadlocks off. It felt like the day to do it so after months of thinking about it, it happened.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I loved my dreadlocks - and still have them in a ziplock ;) But for me anyway, my dreadlocks were like reminders, almost in the way a tree has rings marking it's time. I could pull a loc out and from a little bump here, or a spot where an old bleach job lingered, I was constantly reminded of memories that were sometimes painful in the last 7 1/2 years. After 2015 I'd had enough reminders. Done.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Like a ton of other bloggers out there, I forget to post for long periods of time. Maybe I need to set an alarm reminder? Not a bad idea. I do plan on being more attentive to my blog, but I am also going to begin a new one. This blog is my place for everything stuff. Hair, yarn, weather, news, family, friends, etc. The new blog I am working on is dedicated to going vegan. Yeah, that happened too. If you'd like to follow that journey...please do! I'll have a link up soon to get you there :)</span></div>

I've left the jar in the cabinet and tried more bubbles every few days and it seems to be getting better. Maybe they need time to "cure"? No clue but, here's a little update with pics of my homemade bubble experiment!</span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"> The little cheese grater didn't work but, whatever this is did!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I have a video to share but, it's been uploading from my Drive for a while now. I'll get it on here soon!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">But .... even though the bubbles don't seem to be as "firm" as the ones I've bought in the store, I'm happy with them because I know what made up the formula. And besides, my 6 year old isn't going to complain - as long as there's bubbles of any size involved!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">As for my absence *this* time around. I'm a Girl Scout Troop leader and it's COOKIE SEASON!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I've been a little busy :)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KgI8Ab4e280/UxpLjUigacI/AAAAAAAAJaM/VEbOYPix1rY/s1600/cookiecar1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KgI8Ab4e280/UxpLjUigacI/AAAAAAAAJaM/VEbOYPix1rY/s1600/cookiecar1.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I've been doing some knitting (of course) and it's going slowly but surely. A second Tea Leaves Cardigan is in the works. I love to knit on it but my right arm doesn't like to so much. Old rotator cuff injury, "tennis elbow". bursitis, repetitive movement, heavy lifting at work... doesn't make for very productive knitting! I do what I can though. And, I am also trying to get the hang of Continental knitting. I think I may be too uncoordinated for it though LOL</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Some progress ... I've made more since these pics. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">That's all the updating I have time for now. I have cookies and a little girl to pick up from her after school program. I've been thinking about changing my blog host for awhile as blogger.com just isn't doing it for me anymore - stay tuned for more on that!</span></div>

There's still 2 feet of snow out my front door and as I type this, it's 13 degrees. Last week my daughter lost 3 days of school due to snow and windchill, and I am deep in the market for awesome indoor projects, and anything that can be done outside - for a brief amount of time. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Enter Pinterest and cool pics from the interwebs. ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Pretty recently there was a pic going around the web of bubbles that had been blown outside in the chilly air and they looked really, really cool. "I want to do that!", is what I've been thinking ever since I saw it!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Right now my bubble solution is *curing* in the cabinet. (I read that it's best 24 hours after it's first mixed) I'll take pictures tomorrow, of course, but for now I wanted to get my recipe down so I dont forget! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Homemade bubbles -</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">2 1/2 cups water</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">1/2 cup Dawn Platinum dish washing liquid</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">4 TBSP glycerin</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">3 TBSP corn syrup</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">shake and let sit for 24 hours!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I was encouraged when I was able to blow a HUGE bubble thru a slotted spoon earlier. I'll let you know how it turns out tomorrow!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I finally learned to crochet! Friends have tried in vain to teach me before but, this time it actually stuck! Now I find myself wanting to crochet everything instead of knit.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">One wonderful thing is that my hands don't hurt me like they do when I knit. Even when I loosen my grip while knitting, my left hand falls asleep, and my right arm just aches. I'll never be pain free, ever - that's just not how my body is these days. But with crochet, it seems I can make good progress on a project and feel like I'm accomplishing something, without all the stopping, shaking out the limbs, and massaging my hands.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I really do love knitting, and the look of knitted garments though. I'll be back soon, my Chiagoos, Hiya Hiyas, and KP circs. Promise.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">As for my knitting...I've cast off a few smallish knitted projects recently.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

I love these because you work a rectangle, then slip stitch it together (in the case of crochet), or my favorite for knitting, a kitchener stitch.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">A little peek of it so far ...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-98dVXI9ODsM/UuSl44-B6fI/AAAAAAAAI5g/tHOKYrYUxJo/s1600/crochet1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-98dVXI9ODsM/UuSl44-B6fI/AAAAAAAAI5g/tHOKYrYUxJo/s1600/crochet1.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I've got a lot farther since this pic was taken earlier today. I'm just about done with the first hank of two I'll be using, of <a href="http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/heartland.html" target="_blank">Lion Brand Heartland</a> in "Olympic"... a lovely blue, perfect for the Winter Games coming up. I really am impressed with this acrylic! I cant lie - I'm a yarn snob. Normally I turn my nose up at acrylic. For a long time unless it was Dark Horse Fantasy, I refused to work with it. This yarn however is amazingly soft and really easy to work with. It's also nice to know I don't have to worry about felting :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If you've got this far, thank you for reading my post! I'm here and there, and sometimes missing all together but, I always mean to get back to my blogging ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Enjoy the rest of your weekend - and stay warm!</span></div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">It's been farkin cold here in northeast Kansas lately! Perhaps you've heard of the "arctic vortex" weather phenomenon? We felt it pretty good last week - but thankfully, not nearly as bad as the folks up in Wisconsin and New York though. I hope everyone is warming up and melting down a bit by now!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So, today is a day off for me! (Insert riotous applause...even thought it's just me here) Working at a fabric store is wonderful but, I do love my down time - especially when there's still plenty of snow on the ground and it's hard to stay warm inside without the heater clicking on every 10 minutes.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I've got my husband's army issued blanket - those guys really know how to keep a solider warm when they want to. My Macbook is rolling thru a Criminal Minds marathon. And my current WIP, a simple cowl. I went with this project because I needed to make something, ANYTHING, so I could knit up this hank of Malabrigo worsted in the color "water green", that I've been squooshing now and again, trying to think of what it wanted to be.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Thus far my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/malabrigo-neck-thingie" target="_blank">Malabrigo Neck Thingie</a> is coming along great - it would be better if I could my more slippery needles to use but, I'm using what I can find right now. While searching for my size 8, 16 inch Chiagoo Reds, I figured out that I really, really need to pull all the projects off needles that have been languishing in cast-on fever crazy land, and let's face it, I'll never finish! If I did that, I'd have a whole new set of knitting needles in every size and circular length! Oh, and I never found my Chiagoos. For now I will continue with my bamboo needles and rub them occasionally with wax paper for added slippiness. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I made up a word just then.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">It's about time to get back to Criminal Minds, and get this cowl done. My 6 year old has requested a cowl or scarf for herself using my other hank of the same Malabrigo as my own so, I'll be busy here for a bit.</span><br />

Instead of grabbing for a can I've been working on making soups for myself ... with pretty good success!<br />
<br />
Allow me share the love ;)<br />
<br />
In my 7 quart crock pot today: Minestrone<br />
<br />
<!--?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?-->
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial;">3 16oz cans "Italian style" diced tomatoes</span><br />
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
1 16oz can dark red kidney beans (drained)</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
1 16oz can cannellini beans (drained)</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
2 c (16oz) water</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
4 c (32oz) chicken stock</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
1 & 1/2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
leaves from 3 stems oregano - tossed in whole</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
1 tsp chopped basil</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
about 1 handful fresh spinach torn into strips</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
1/2 tsp ground pepper</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
1&1/2 tsp <b>minced</b> garlic (equal to about 2-3 cloves)</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
3 med-lg size bay leaves</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
6 red potatoes, par boiled 10 minutes, cut into half-moons</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
3 shakes sea salt</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
Turn crock pot to 4-6 hours, depending on when soup needs to be done. Switch to warm when desired. Store in fridge and heat when you're hungry.</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
I freakin love this broth! It tastes pretty amazing :) The husband and I went to Olive Garden a few days ago and I ordered their Minestrone just to compare, and wow was I happy! Mine is way better ... in my own humble opinion, of course.</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7fnSMJzD6bc/UrJ0NtBZkTI/AAAAAAAAIdk/OFIB4hYzBsQ/s1600/CAM00079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7fnSMJzD6bc/UrJ0NtBZkTI/AAAAAAAAIdk/OFIB4hYzBsQ/s320/CAM00079.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dJADgGqVniw/UrJ0QfVeiyI/AAAAAAAAIds/Oc2vyl9BK7I/s1600/CAM00077.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dJADgGqVniw/UrJ0QfVeiyI/AAAAAAAAIds/Oc2vyl9BK7I/s320/CAM00077.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
My local Dillons grocery store has a delish seeded garlic bread they make fresh daily. Perfectly paired!</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
My next soup-venture will be gnocchi chicken. Please share your recipes with me if you have any you'd like to pass on! </div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">
Enjoy!</div>

No time to explain... just DRIIIIVE! (I'll get back to that later) For now, I need to explain why that by spring, my ass will be as wide as all outside.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I love the holiday season - the weather, the decor, the food, and even some of the music - but mostly, the food ;) Pinterest has some great recipes for holiday sweets, and I decided to put my own spin on some I've re-pinned recently. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">First up; <i>Chocolate Candy Cracker Bark </i>-</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">you will need:</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">saltine crackers</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">1 cup butter</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">1 cup light brown sugar</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">1 bag chocolate chips (dark, semi or milk)</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">mini marshmallows </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">thinly sliced almonds</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">non-stick or parchment covered cookie sheet (wax paper will stick!)</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">On a non-stick cookie sheet, line up saltine crackers till surface is covered (mine will fit 40). Melt butter/brown sugar in a sauce pan - let bubble for a minute and continue. Pour butter/brown sugar mixture over the crackers, making sure the entire surface is covered. Place in 400 degree oven for 6 minutes, then remove.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">Immediately pour entire bag of chips and a handful or two (depending on your liking) of marshmallows on the hot crackers. Place tray back in oven for 1 minute. Watch the chips till they get shiny (this means they are melting!) then remove the tray. Use spatula to spread melted chocolate chips and marshmallows over the cracker surface.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">Sprinkle with slivered almonds and let cool bit. Press almonds firmly with spatula to set them in real good. If desired, place in freezer to cool/harden up faster.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">After the cooling down, I cut it into squares, and placed them in a container to keep them happy. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">I've been experimenting with soups and cookies too, and I'll be sure to share them as well!</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;">That's all for now ... stay tuned for some knitting and other crafty things! I promise I won't be gone for long.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">I'm almost done with my Springtime Bandit. I started this poor thing ages ago, and then it sat unloved for about 5 months. Now that I have picked it back up I am making great progress. Winter still has quite a ways to go in the Northern Hemisphere so, I'll have plenty of cold days to snuggle up in it!</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">I'm also starting to get the itch to knit up socks! But, I need more socks! Knitted socks are my favorite and I really need some to wear with my Mary Janes.</span></div>

That makes me a happy knitter ;) I hope its keeping her toasty thru the Winter Break.</span><br />

She's 22 and just home from college. She knows her way around a sewing machine like nobody's business but yarn crafting is new to her, and I'm so proud of her! She's been sick the last few days and while laying in bed, she's watched tutorials. A few swatches later, and she's well on her way to the gnome hat she so desires! I'm happy to have someone else to share my <strike>madness</strike>... err, I mean passion, with ;)</span></div>

Go me!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NBVohIbfMi4/UNQR8513E3I/AAAAAAAAG1o/gNZxMV96ZIs/s1600/jamiecowl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NBVohIbfMi4/UNQR8513E3I/AAAAAAAAG1o/gNZxMV96ZIs/s320/jamiecowl.jpg" width="318" /></a></div>
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">I wish I had the determination (and skill to knit faster!) to make more knitted goodies to give a gifts this time of year but, I just dont have it in me. Maybe next year? Hmm, we'll see... </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">But,<b> </b>I am in adore with my daughter's teacher so, it was easy to knit something up for her for a gift. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">This was an on the fly, fast knit. I improvised the pattern using one hank of chunky Malabrigo in the colorway "stonechat". </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">Cast on 36 and K1 P1 for the entire length, knit flat. Sounds boring, I know, but I wanted something that didnt require much brain power. I seamed it up after a soak, stretch, and dry and<i> voila!, fini!</i></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">I hope all your holiday knitting is ready to cast off and weave in the ends by this time! I have been itching to cast something else on since I finished this up today... I have some fabulous pink yarn that was gifted to me about a year ago that is just begging to be a cute hat for my daughter. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">I'll keep you posted! <!--3--></span>evel dreadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08250349800826670074noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2936268857521214101.post-5948051843761894162012-12-12T14:48:00.003-09:002012-12-12T14:48:52.197-09:00WIP Wednesday <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">My current work-in-progress is made of Malabrigo chunky in "stonechat". I was going to knit it up in seed stitch but got lazy - k1 p1 instead for the entire hank and seaming to make it a "necklace-like" cowl for my daughter's teacher. It's turning out to be very squooshy!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">I think she'll like it! Since the weather has gotten so much more cold, I've noticed she has two grey scarves she switches between. This should be a nice, more colorful change, without being overly bright.

I have a ton of pictures to get off of my digital camera... and I cant find the USB cord that fits :(<br />
<br />
DD age 4 and I have been Geocaching lately, so we have treasure pics to share! The Winter weather is chilly in Kansas right now but, we've had endless gorgeous days to go exploring. Yesterday I was snapping like crazy at bald eagles during a walk!<br />
<br />
So, until I can get those pics up, I offer this... a pic of my new handmade socks! A knitty friend made them for me using Shalimar Yarns Zoe Sock in "Fairy Dust". The pattern is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/berlin-muster">Berlin Muster.</a><br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A group of knitters on Ravelry split up into groups, with the intention of creating homemade ornaments for each other. After 3 false starts, these mini Malabrigo stockings are what I eventually came up with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_ib1GHDQFAY/TuZj4bYd9-I/AAAAAAAADrs/stsxIChObH8/s720/IMG_20111212_142739.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_ib1GHDQFAY/TuZj4bYd9-I/AAAAAAAADrs/stsxIChObH8/s320/IMG_20111212_142739.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
little bird here, is one of the "false starts"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LRS1u2QNZig/TuZkqPugAeI/AAAAAAAADsY/B4ig5sYLbdQ/s720/IMG_20111212_143135.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LRS1u2QNZig/TuZkqPugAeI/AAAAAAAADsY/B4ig5sYLbdQ/s320/IMG_20111212_143135.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally, an ornament I received! My genuine voodoo doll from New Orleans graciously offered to model it.<br />

A wonderful knitter I know thru one of the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/">Ravelry</a> swappy groups I am in, put up her services to create a "<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/turn-a-square">Turn A Square</a>" hat for the claimant of her offer. The lucky person to catch it was meeee!<br />
<br />
The solid grayish color is Cascade 220, and the gently changing color is Lion Brand "Amazing". Amazing, indeed... it's very similar to a Noro skein, but a 57/43 wool/acrylic blend.<br />
<br />
Here is her picture, with a more up close detail of the color. I am in luuurve!<br />

Trying hard to get my craft on here! A group of knitters online are making and sending ornaments to each other. Even though I have literally looked thru hundreds of handmade ornament ideas, I'm still a little lost about what I want to make. </div>

<br />
The animal kingdom's "hamster power couple" Hammijojin and Blanket have called it quits. Amidst allegations of abuse and bouts of binge eating, as well as not sharing the food bowl at all, agents for the domestic partners filed for dissolution.<br />
<br />
The couple will divide property 50/50. Hammijojin will continue to live in the couple's first home, while Blanket (the alleged abuser) has moved in to a new *designer* home they acquired together at the end of summer.<br />

The two ask for respect of their privacy during this difficult time.evel dreadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08250349800826670074noreply@blogger.com1
